HANSVILLE — Hansville’s 35th annual Flotsam and Jetsam Garden Club sale will be held May 12, 9 a.m. to noon, at the Greater Hansville Community Center on Buck Lake Road.
Several new features have been added, including a Kids’ Corner, with Master Gardeners on hand to offer free tomato plants to children 16 and younger.
Also new is a Garden Art Booth, with art created by club members. Crystal totems, stepping stones, and painted pots will be surrounded by “Re-Imagined Flamingos.” The oft-maligned lawn orbaments will be dressed for success and new homes.
Shoppers can take advantage of the new Sneak-A-Peek, 5-7 p.m. on May 11. No purchases are permitted, but a $5 donation allows you to plan your strategy for sale day. Shoppers are known to make a dash for their favorites among annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, ground covers, herbs, and veggies (which include 20 varieties of tomatoes). House plants, cut flower arrangements, and baked goods are popular next-day Mother’s Day surprises.
Community businesses have donated a record number of raffle and silent auction items, including gift certificates, tickets, services, plants and trees. A full listing can be found on the club website, www.flotsamandjetsamgardenclub.com.
For 35 years, sale proceeds have been providing scholarships and grants to community residents and organizations. Sale co-chairpersons Lindsey Vallance and Sheri Kiley promise the best of the sale traditions and the zest of the new additions.
