Your gifts will keep on giving

Each year I am amazed at the incredible generosity of our community.

Each year I am amazed at the incredible generosity of our community.

As we approached the end of the year and prepared for the Neighbor Aid fundraiser and the ShareNet Christmas Shop, I admit I had overwhelming doubts if we’d pull it together and have enough.

We always do, because of the collective effort of our wonderful community and the friends of ShareNet that believe in and support our work.

This year, 186 children and students up to age 18 received Christmas gifts. Giving trees at Kingston IGA and the Kingston Chamber of Commerce, collection barrels in businesses, schools and stores, individual donations, and the year-long collection by the Kingston Kiwanis Club provided a bountiful selection of gifts. Thank you for easing the burden and concerns of financially stretched families at Christmas.

Neighbor Aid 2012 did not reach our goal. In January, the board of directors were to meet to determine how our 2013 budget goals will be affected. Would you consider becoming a monthly contributor? ShareNet is a 501c3 non-profit organization and donations are tax deductible.

Our food bank is an active member of both the Washington State and Kitsap County Food Bank Coalitions. These associations provide accountability as well as greatly reduced food purchasing opportunities.

Visit our website, www.sharenetfoodbank.org, if you are interested in volunteering, knowing more about our work, or contributing financially.

With grateful appreciation,
Barbara Brumagin
