Charles Orbin Brand | Passages

Chuck served our country for 22 years in the United States Army, from March 1958 to October 1980, and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He earned several medals and recognitions, including the Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Korean Expeditionary Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal. After his retirement from the Army, he worked at the Trident Refit Facility at Bangor Naval Base in Kitsap County from June 1985 to December 1999.

KINGSTON — Charles “Chuck” “Hondo” Orbin Brand, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away on Aug, 27. He was 76.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley; son Charlie Brand (Julia), daughter Charlene Igou (Jay), grandchildren Sara Brand and Charlie Ryan Brand (fiance D’Arcy), great-grandchildren Landin and Farra Brand; and his crazy beagle Bailee and grand-dog Gus.

Chuck was a loving husband, dad, (great) grandfather and friend. He was adored by everyone who knew him. He could make anyone laugh. Chuck “Hondo,” you will be truly missed and will always be in our hearts.

A private memorial service with full military honors will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Chuck’s name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the Wounded Warrior Project.
