It’s a zoo out here

A new business to open in Kingston this month, selling wild yard art, hot rods, vintage boats and other eclectic collectibles.

Those eye-catching zoo animals standing off Bond Road in front of the Kingston West Industrial Park will soon be joined by a lions, tigers, gorillas and some banana and palm trees.

The behemoth-sized yard art is there to draw attention to a new business opening behind Barefoot Decks, called T.J.’s American Hot Rods & Animal House. The business will feature not only all the safari statues for sale, but also vintage hot rods and wooden boats, as well as Blues Brothers displays and other eclectic decorative items. The store is owned by Mike Dawson and Ted Fulmer of BelAir Mortage & Real Estate in Edmonds, where they have another fiberglass safari menagerie on display.

Dawson’s son, Heath Dawson, owner of Advanced Flooring of Kingston, will manage T.J.’s and a grand opening is expected later this month.
