Reckless is as reckless does
A sheriff’s deputy was driving northbound on State Route 3 at the Kitsap Way exit when he saw a motorcycle speeding and driving recklessly.
The deputy paced the motorcycle at 80 mph near the Austin Drive exit. The 25-year-old Bremerton motorcycle rider continued to speed and pass vehicles on the right. The deputy later noted he and the motorcyclist were traveling 110 mph near the Newberry Hill Road exit.
The motorcyclist finally pulled over and the deputy asked him if he knew how fast he was going. The man guessed 85 mph. When the deputy told him it was more like 110 mph, the man said his speedometer was “way off.”
He was arrested and booked into jail for reckless driving and later released.
Oh, just climbing Mount Rainier
Sheriff’s deputies checked Old Mill Park on Bucklin Hill Road in Silverdale at 8:40 p.m. Aug. 15 after people complained of juveniles drinking and harassing people.
As the deputies walked the park’s trail, they came across a man and 16-year-old Silverdale boy. The man dropped a bottle of wine on the ground and when a deputy told him not to litter, he picked it up.
Both men were intoxicated and one of the deputies found several cans of beer, a baggy filled with an unknown green leafy substance that was not marijuana, a glass smoking pipe, empty pill bottle, bags of tobacco and rolling papers inside the teen’s backpack.
Once handcuffed and seated in a patrol car, the teen started crying and banging his head against the prisoner safety cage window. He told a deputy his father committed suicide two months ago and no one loves him.
The deputy contacted the teen’s mother who said he was supposed to be camping at Mount Rainier with a friend that weekend. He called her earlier in the day to check in and told her he was fine.
The teen’s mother also said his father is very much alive. He lives in Virginia and doesn’t see him often.
The teen was transported to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton for evaluation and treatment. A report was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review/filing of charges.
