Village Green Cider Press Sept. 22 | Village Green Update

Pie in the Park was our August focus. Thanks to everyone who baked, ate, bought and served pie — and ice cream.

Pie in the Park was our August focus. Thanks to everyone who baked, ate, bought and served pie — and ice cream.

Thanks especially to Linn DiNesti, who designed this year’s poster, and to Nancy Martin and Sharon Redpath for being the coordinators. This paper had to be put to bed before we knew the outcome, but it always creates a lot of fun.

Next month’s event is Sept. 22, the Village Green Cider Press. Bring your own apples and your own containers, or pay a small donation and get some community cider. We’ll start about 4:30 p.m. this year. This is another rain-or-shine event.

Funding and partners

We are still waiting to hear about our first grant application, which will help with permitting fees for the community center. Our conditional use permit application has been filed, and the next step is architectural design.

Meanwhile, to make sure we and our partners — Boys & Girls Clubs of Snohomish County and Kitsap Regional Library — are on the same page, we’ve launched a series of meetings with representatives of both partners to lay the foundation for our capital campaign. If there are not enough meetings in your life, email us at info@kingstonvillagegreen.org and we’ll figure out how you can be involved.

This next step — raising the rest of the money needed, between $2 million and $3 million — will take everyone.
