KINGSTON — The Kingston Buccaneers stepped onto the field April 12 to play Port Townsend, following a frustrating overtime loss Tuesday. Port Townsend quickly became the recipient of a team that did not want to repeat the 3-2 loss to Klahowya.

“Port Townsend was unfortunate to be the team to play us after our sudden death overtime loss to Klahowya as we went in prepared and offensively focused to score,” Kingston coach Craig Smith wrote to the Herald.

And it didn’t take long for the Bucs to score.

Within the first 20 minutes of play, the Bucs scored three times. By the 47th minute, the Bucs scored five times. Kingston’s Nick Boles finished the game in the 71st minute, with the team’s eighth goal.

The game ended 8-0. The Bucs scored four times in each half.

Kyle Van Wyck and Alex Worland shared the shutout win as goalies.

Boles scored four times, Justin Overton scored twice with two assists. And Cody Sweeney scored twice with three assists. Smith said he pulled all three players early to keep the scoring down.

Smith said Cameron Ashley continues to impress playing the outside half. Ansel Hartman and Simon Campo held center- mid-field well, too.

The Bucs and North Kitsap Vikings will play April 17 at North Kitsap High School. Game is scheduled for 6:45 p.m.
