As summer ends, so does our chance to break ground on a new library this year. Anyone who wants to see a new 5,000-square-foot library in the next couple of years can help now with a pledge. Only with more community participation will this vision be realized.
If you signed up for summer reading and finished reading 10 hours, come into the library soon and choose a new paperback book.
Join us for these events at the Kingston branch.
— Movie Matinee & Craft, “James and the Giant Peach”: Aug. 5, 1-3 p.m. Come for a special movie matinee and make bug crafts.
— Pacific Science Center, “Fantastic Fossils”: Aug. 6, 1:30 p.m. Is it a rock or a fossil? Use paleontologists’ tools to study real fossils and learn how they were made. Space is limited.
— Kingston Book Group: Aug. 7, at 10 a.m. We will be discussing “The Sisters Brothers,” by Patrick DeWitt.
— Storytime and Craft: Aug. 7, at 10:30 a.m. Come for a morning full of reading, rhymes, songs, and a fun craft after storytime! Pre-readers can count storytime towards their summer-reading hours.
— Kingston Writers Group: Aug. 13 and 27, 6:30 p.m. Enjoy a friendly, supportive atmosphere to encourage writing. We want to read what you want to write: poetry, nonfiction, fiction, or memoir.
— Popsicle Super Reader Party: Aug. 15, 2-4 p.m. All children who participated in the Summer Reading Program at the Kingston or Little Boston Branch are invited to attend. Enjoy Popsicles and games as we celebrate reading.
