Katherine R. Daniels, 74, of Belfair died July 23 in Port Orchard.
Daughter of Goethe and Rose Engelbrekt, she was born in Superior, Wisc., and raised in Home, Wash. Kathy married Russell E. “Bud” Daniels June 9, 1956. They raised four children: Jacqueline (Jerry), David (Susan), Michael (Loni) and Glenn (Donna). She was a proud grandmother of six: Kati (Ryan), Jeremy (Melinda), Jacob, Russell, Jack (Jessica) and Janene (Peter). Kathy was an even prouder great-grandmother of 10: Jordan, Zanden, Blake, Amber, Kylee, Elle, Jackson, Parker, Emma, Taylor and soon-to-be 11th — baby Heimer.
A longtime Belfair resident, Kathy worked at Kitsap Bank for 25 years. She loved gardening and quilting, belonging to the Evergreen Garden Club and regularly attending annual quilting retreats. She was a talented knitter and loved to crochet. She never missed a Mariners’ game. And Kathy invested many years forming her family’s genealogical history.Kathy was preceded in death by Bud in 1998.
Her family will honor and celebrate her life Aug. 7 at 5 p.m. , at the Pendelton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association — Washington State Chapter.
