Central Kitsap School District updates its web presence

The Central Kitsap School District redesigned its Web site to simplify navigation and make information more accessible to users, district officials say.

Launched Dec. 10, the new-look site features more graphics and less text than its predecessor and allows users to search Google via the homepage.

“The feedback has been really positive,” district spokesman David Beil said. “The redesign gave us an opportunity to make sure we’re staying organized, while also giving the site a new look.”

The most notable difference between the current and former site, Beil said, is the image-to-text ratio. The old site was bogged down with words, forcing users to sift through text to find their destination. The updated version uses images to catch the eye, assisting browsers through a simpler navigation process.

There were no costs to the district because the redesign was completed internally, Beil said, and the new look was tested on both internal and external users.

A survey regarding the redesign was posted last week to CKSD’s homepage, and users are encouraged to fill it out.

“We want to continue to get that feedback,” Beil said.
