Vikings challenge Klahowya meet results, win | Cross country

The win placed North Kitsap in first with 30 and Port Angles in second with 34. Klahowya finished third with 64.

SILVERDALE — The North Kitsap girls’ varsity team checked off another win after North’s coaches protested the results of the Oct. 9 meet at Klahowya Secondary School.

The coaches challenged that two Port Angeles runners took wrong turns on the 3-mile course, giving them an advantage and resulting in fourth and fifth place finishes, and a better team score.

Initially, Port Angeles won with a score of 30, to North Kitsap’s 32. Following the challenge, the two PA runners were disqualified.

“We (athletic directors from Klahowya Secondary School and North Kitsap High School) have confirmed that the race results have been overturned and the protest will be upheld,” an email from Dwayne Johnson, the Olmypic League’s cross country commissioner, states.

The win placed North Kitsap in first with 30 and Port Angles in second with 34. Klahowya finished third with 64.
