Web conference for Alzheimer’s patient caregivers:
A web conference for Alzheimer’s patient caregivers will be provided for Kitsap families through the National Private Duty Association Nov. 16 at 5 p.m. The nonprofit will provide advice on steps to help family members provide the necessary care for those with Alzheimer’s. Bremerton community meeting:
Residents will be able to discuss ideas and ask questions with Port of Bremerton commissioners and staff at a community meeting scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Sheridan Park Community Center. The community center is located at 680 Lebo Blvd., Bremerton.
Perinatal loss support group:
There is a perinatal loss support group that will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 8 in the Iris Room of the Harrison Medical Center in Silverdale. This open-forum support group is for mothers and fathers who have gone through a miscarriage, stillbirth or loss of a baby less than one years old. The center is located at 1800 NW Myhre Rd.
ToiletRy drive in Bremerton:
Unused and unopened toiletry items can be dropped off at the AAA office in Bremerton located at 5700 Kitsap Way, Suite 201. Donations will benefit the Alive Shelter for Battered Women in Bremerton through AAA Washington and KOMO Newsradio’s Soap for Hope campaign to collect and distribute items to local shelters. Toiletry items including soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, floss and deodorant will be accepted.
Lung cancer education in Silverdale:
A free lung cancer educational event will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov 18. in the Garden Room of Silverdale’s Harrison Medical Center. Cash for Appliances coming to an end:
There is less than $400,000 left for Cash for Appliances Washington, the program that allows Washington state residents to receive rebates for upgrading to new Energy Star appliances. Once this money runs out, the rebate program will end. It offers cash rebates on many Energy Star appliances including refrigerators, dishwashers, water heaters and ductless heat pumps. Kitsap tax-aide volunteers needed
The IRS and AARP seek residents to be volunteers as tax-aide counselors. Last year in Kitsap County 75 tax-aide volunteers helped more than 3,900 taxpayers. Bernie Jacob Quartet performance in Bremerton
The Bernie Jacob Quartet is scheduled to perform at Collective Visions Gallery at 7 p.m. Nov. 19. The group’s music features jazz flute and saxaphone as well as soulful vocals. Book festival at Naval Undersea Museum
The Mountains to Sea Book Festival will be held at the Naval Undersea Museum in Keyport from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 13. The event will feature 20 local authors who will give presentations on their work, with children’s authors reading from their books aloud to kids. Authors will include thriller novelist D.M. Ulmer, children’s author Nancy Woodman and cook book author Greg Atkinson. The museum is located at 1 Garnett Way, Keyport.
