Bastien scores four goals in win for Klahowya
The Klahowya Secondary School boys lacrosse team defeated Mount Si High School (North Bend) 15-7 at home April 30.
Kevin Bastien (pictured) continued to lead Klahowya, scoring four goals in the Eagles’ ninth win of the season.
The Eagles extended their winning streak to six games, leading the Division II Olympic Conference.
Klahowya ends losing streak with penalty kick
The Klahowya Secondary School boys soccer team defeated Black Hills High School (Olympia) 1-0 April 29, snapping a 50-game losing streak that dated back to the 2008 season.
Marc Barbosa notched the Eagles’ only goal with a penalty kick in the 49th minute.
Goalkeeper Zander Coleman earned the shutout.
Bremerton baseball upsets Kingston
The Bremerton High School baseball team defeated Olympic League leader Kingston High School 3-1 Tuesday. The Knights were led by Matt Noll, who went 2-for-3 with a run and RBI.
Devin Garcia went 2-for-2 with a walk. Kaden Tomlinson hit 2-for-3 with a double and RBI. Eli Fultz earned the win for Bremerton.
As a result, North Kitsap High School won the league, while Kingston settled for second. Bremerton improved to 6-10 against the league, 7-11 overall with the win.
Central Kitsap soccer defeats Bellarmine
The Central Kitsap High School boys soccer team upset Bellarmine Preparatory School 1-0 Tuesday.
The Cougars’ lone goal came in the 64th minute from Tim Bromley. Miles Rodriguez-Nilsen was credited with the assist.
Pumas win opener against Vancouver
The Kitsap Pumas won its third straight season-opener with a 2-0 victory against Vancouver Sunday at Empire Field in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Matt Friesen and Kyle Johnson earned the team’s two scores, while Robby Christner accounted for two assists. The franchise has outscored opponents 14-0 in its past three opening day games.
Friesen notched a goal in the 22nd minute from Christner, who also fed the ball to Johnson in the 42nd minute to build a 2-0 advantage against the Whitecaps. Rookie goalkeeper Bryan Meredith earned the shutout in his first start for the Pumas.
The Pumas (1-0-0) start the home season May 8 against the Victoria Highlanders. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
ISPN to air Rangers game
Kevin Mac will broadcast live coverage of the ISPN Sports Show from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday with highlights and interviews from the past week of high school sports on www.ispnsports.com. The show will include highlights and interviews from Rangers players and coaches. The network is scheduled to broadcast Olympic College’s baseball game against Edmonds Community College at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 8.
