PORT GAMBLE — Three new businesses have opened in Port Gamble.
Orbea Sign Co. opened in May. The company was formed in 2008 by Mollie and Pete Orbea, who have years of experience in the sign industry. The shop offers banners, custom signs, decals and more for commercial and residential, exterior and interior.
The Orbeas said they plan to roll out a line of retail items this fall, including art, decor, pre-made signs and sign accessories.
Orbea Sign Co., located at 32239 Rainier Avenue NE, House No. 9, is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit www.orbeasignco.com.
WISH, a mercantile, also opened in May. Rhea Schneider stocks locally made items, including candles, glass works, jewelry, metal art, pottery and Gamble Bay coffee and T-shirts.
Schneider said she’s eager to find other local artists searching for a place to sell their items. For information, simply stop by and chat with her during business hours.
WISH, located at 4790 NE State Highway 104, House No. 20, is open Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Andrew Baer opened Baer Studio, a pottery shop, in June. Baer, a Poulsbo native, has studied under master potters Don Sprague and Mark Terry. Much of his work is larger decorative pieces and includes high-fire clay bodies as well as raku, a type of Japanese hand-molded pottery.
“I push, pull, bend and stretch clay until the form is pleasing to my eye,” he said. “I constantly explore new forms and experimenting with new glazes.”
Baer Studio, located in the Rainier Garages at 32260 Rainier Avenue NE, is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
