Kiwanis fundraiser bigger than expected

Five-hundred — or more — people attended the June 7 event

KINGSTON — The Food For Kids fundraiser exceeded expectations.

Five-hundred — or more — people attended the June 7 event. About 300 were originally expected.

The fundraiser at Mike Wallace Park raised money to help feed school children during the summer.

The Blues Counselors performed its blues and R&B.

Local beer was provided by Sound Brewery, Valholl Brewing, Der Blokken Brewery, and Hood Canal Brewery.

The fundraiser was sponsored by Greater Kingston Kiwanis, Kingston-North Kitsap Rotary, the S’Klallam Tribe, ShareNet and the Kingston Food Bank.
