Sabin retires after 40 years

Kingston Christian Church’s Senior Pastor of 40 years, Duane Sabin, has retired from that position. There will be a retirement Celebration at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6, at the church. The public is invited.

Following the program will be a dessert and fellowship time and at about 5 p.m. there will be slides of “40 years of Kingston.”

Sabin has been very involved in community activities, including being an early first aid responder and ambulance driver of the Kingston Ambulance Crew, has been one of the Fire Department Chaplains for a couple of decades, ran the Kingston Fourth of July Soap Box Derby races for years, was instrumental in the beginning of Christ the King Academy and served on its original board, as well as the first board of Alpha Counseling Services, both in Poulsbo.

A graduate of North Kitsap High School, Sabin attended the Eglon Grade School and was in the first class to enter Wolfle Elementary.

He has also performed hundreds of funerals for Kingston-area families through the years and is a well-known community figure, including a past Man of the Year for Kingston Fourth of July.
