A 51-year-old East Bremerton man was arrested April 19 after stealing a video game from Walmart in East Bremerton, according to a Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office report.
The man purchased a few candy bars, a phone card and soap but had concealed a PlayStation game that he had removed from the security packaging, according to the report. A security camera captured video of the man removing the packaging and discarding the case in an aisle. The loss prevention manager of the store told a sheriff deputy that the man had trespassed on Walmart property before and had been involved with stealing from the store in the past, according to the report.
Deputies went to the man’s home in the 7400 block of Old Military Road and located drugs and drug paraphernalia in the man’s room and found an illegal spring-assisted knife in his 37-year-old roommate’s pocket. There were also outstanding warrants for the 37-year-old’s arrest. When asked why he stole the video game, the 51-year-old said it was because he wanted to play the game.
Both men were arrested and booked to the Kitsap County jail. The 51-year-old was booked for retail theft, burglary and possession of methamphetamine. The 37-year-old was booked for use of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
