May is here and the Kingston Rotary Golf Classic is just around the corner.
Rotarians have been busy preparing for this annual event, now in its eighth year. The tournament is slated for June 20 at White Horse Golf Club in Kingston. It is Kingston Rotary’s No. 1 fundraiser, and always a community favorite.
Your support of the tournament allows Rotary to spend money on worthwhile community service projects, such as the Rea Mowery Picnic Pavilion and new play equipment for Village Green park, Feed the Kids summer food program, a potential Coffee Oasis in Kingston, blood drives, student scholarships, and financial contributions to the new Village Green Community Center.
Rotary is offering an incentive to golfers who register early. Those registered by May 15 will be entered into a drawing for a free round of golf at White Horse Golf Club. There will be three or four drawings, depending on the volume of golfers. To register for the tournament online, visit www.knkrotarygolf.com. The cost is $150 per player and includes green fees, cart, range balls, lunch, drink tickets for beer and wine and an awards dinner in the club house.
This year’s tournament will not be a handicapped tournament, as in past years. There will be a silent auction this year and an opportunity for everyone to attend the awards dinner, not only tournament players. Tickets for the awards dinner are $35 per person and can be purchased from Breane Martinez via email, breanemartinez@hotmail.com.
We are happy to have returning sponsors Liberty Bay Bank, Kitsap Physical Therapy, Valley Nursery, Columbia Bank, Les Schwab in Poulsbo, Chinook Properties, and Sunnyview Consulting.
New sponsors for this year’s tournament are Harrison Hospital, WIN Home Inspection Service, Land Title Company, Martha and Mary, and Main Street Ale House. Photography will be courtesy of Almost Candid Photo and Frame.
One week later, on June 27, Rotary will have their annual installation dinner to honor its contributing members and welcome the new leadership team. Meisha Rouser will turn over the gavel to Isaac Anderson who is primed to lead Kingston Rotary as President in its 2014-2015 year. Anderson will be working with Nick Jewett who will serve as Rotary President in 2015-2016.
