Health care reform
Cure worse than illness
What is the meaning of “bankrupt?”
According to the president, it means what will happen to this country if health care reform isn’t passed. On the other hand, the U.S. just exceeded its debt limit and soon Congress will be raising the debt limit. So, at what point would the U.S. be bankrupt? In this administration it will only go bankrupt if the health care bill isn’t passed, while spending this country into deeper and deeper debt is just business as usual.
We hear how the Social Security system will be “bankrupt” in 2017 and the Medicare system will be “bankrupt” in 2019.
I believe if the health care bill is passed, the president will finally find out what the definition of “bankrupt” really means. However, since there is a good chance he won’t be reelected he won’t have to deal with it since it won’t take effect until 2014.
The health care bill is being touted as covering everyone. But, “everyone” doesn’t really mean everyone. Illegal immigrants, who would qualify for coverage under this bill if they weren’t illegal, number approximately 10 million.
The bill requires all legal citizens to buy health insurance. So who is going to pick up the tab for the 10 million? Definitely won’t be the government because it will be “bankrupt.”
