PORT ORCHARD – Kitsap County Public Works is looking for artistic flair on three snow plow blades for next winter. As part of the annual National Public Works Week celebration (May 17-23) they have announced a contest to select three classrooms to paint the blades of snowplows used in snow and ice removal operations.

“This is a great opportunity for students to display their artwork on a uniquely mobile medium,” said Doug Bear, County Public Communication Manager.

The contest is open to classrooms at all levels. Applications are available online at http://goo.gl/NJwxyl .

Public Works provides the paint and brushes, and arranges delivery and pickup of the plow blade with the selected schools. The plow blades are 12 feet long and about 3 feet high. Once the plow blades are painted crews from Public Works will use them during this winter’s snow and ice response.
