Someone’s missing their garbage
A work crew from the Washington State Department of Corrections was clearing brush on Department of Natural Resources land on Gross Road in Seabeck on April 28 when an inmate discovered three garbage bags full of marijuana plants next to the road. The inmate said he poked his finger through one of the bags and smelled marijuana. He immediately reported it to his supervisor. A sheriff’s deputy was called and opened the bags to find nine medium-size (2 feet to 3 feet tall) marijuana plants still planted in the soil, but without the pots. The bags also contained empty bags of potting soil, several cans, beer bottles, plastic drink containers, latex gloves, waded up duct tape and a section of electrical wire. The marijuana plants and plastic drink containers were booked into evidence.
An African
English bulldog
A 23-year-old East Bremerton woman called the sheriff’s office April 26 to report losing more than $600 in an Internet fraud. The woman said she tried to buy an English bulldog over the Internet. She said she received an e-mail about dogs and went to a linked Web site. She talked with the dog owner who said he was in Cameroon, Africa. She agreed to send $158 via Western Union to have the dog shipped to her. The next day she received an e-mail from the airport in Cameroon stating they needed a $500 refundable deposit for insurance. She sent the money via Western Union. Another day passed and she received a third e-mail from Air France stating the dog was in quarantine and she needed to send $900 in refundable money to Cameroon. She figured it was a scam and called the sheriff’s office.
