Maupin receives DO-IT scholarship

Samuel Maupin of Kingston will participate in DO-IT Scholars this summer. The program encourages high school sophomores and juniors with disabilities who are interested in pursuing higher education.

The scholars learn about college life by spending 10 days at the University of Washington campus to live in a dorm with a roommate, participate in an intensive program to promote college and career success in fields such as technology, science, engineering, and mathematics. After the session they continue mentoring connections year-round via the Internet.

DO-IT (Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking, and Technology) is funded by the state of Washington, the National Science Foundation, and the U.S. Department of Education.
