LITTLE BOSTON — A 22-year-old man sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center after he crashed his truck on Little Boston Road Aug. 26, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the report, the driver, who is a Port Gamble S’Klallam resident, is in serious but stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sheriff deputies, as well as Port Gamble S’Klallam officers and North Kitsap Fire & Rescue crew responded to the scene at 1:47 a.m. According to the report, the driver was westbound on Little Boston Road approaching S’Klallam Hill Lane when the vehicle left the roadway and entered a drainage ditch. The truck continued for approximately 300 feet before striking a culvert at S’Klallam Hill Lane.

The report states the truck was airborne for approximately 50 feet, nearly clearing the intersection. The truck continued in the ditch until it struck a utility pole. The driver was trapped in the vehicle until emergency responders arrived. Excessive speed and the consumption of alcohol by the driver appear to factors in the cause of the crash, according to the report.
