A 45-year-old man was hospitalized early Thursday morning for serious injuries sustained during an early morning invasion-style assault and robbery at his home.

Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) patrol deputies responded to a call from a neighbor’s house in the 2800 block of Bowen Street, off of Trenton Avenue, in East Bremerton and found the victim, who had left his house after the attack to call for help because he did not have a telephone at his home, according to KCSO. The man sustained serious facial trauma in the form of multiple lacerations and other injuries consistent with being assaulted.

A Bremerton Fire Department medic unit responded and provided immediate first aid, then transported the man to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton for further evaluation and treatment.

Detectives said the man answered his front door to repeated knocking sometime between 4 and 4:30 a.m. As he opened the door, an unknown person immediately struck him, knocking him back into the house, according to KCSO. The man was continuously assaulted as multiple suspects entered the house and took personal property from the residence. The man was left alone at the house when the suspects left.

Detectives only have partial descriptions of the assailants. There were at least two males, possibly Asian or Hispanic, in their late teens or early 20s, wearing dark clothing.

A motive for the assault and robbery has not been determined.

The investigation continues. Anyone with information is requested to contact Detective Chad Birkenfeld at (360) 337-5619. People who wish to remain anonymous may contact Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound at (800) 222-TIPS.
