Kitsap Democratic Women’s monthly meeting

The Kitsap Democratic Women’s May meeting is scheduled at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 25 in the Red Barn at Country Meadows, 12295 Schold Place NW, Silverdale. Guest speakers include Sen. Derek Kilmer, D-Gig Harbor, and Sen. Phil Rockefeller, D-Bainbridge Island, who will discuss issues addressed at the Legislature this year.

Price for the luncheon is $11 and attendees are asked to RSVP to President Jo Fox Burr at (360) 613-4042.

Flag Day observance in Bremerton

The Bremerton Elks’ annual Flag Day observance will be at 7:30 p.m. June 9 at the Elks Lodge, 4131 Pine Road NE, Bremerton. The public is invited to the commemoration that will feature boy and girl scouts posting the colors, a presentation of flag history and Port Orchard-based Stars and Stripes choir. New location for dementia caretakers support group

The Alzheimer’s Association caregiver support group meets the first Thursday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and has a new location. The next meeting will be at Linda’s Knit ‘N Stitch, 3382 NW Carlton St. “B,” Silverdale.

The free support group provides a place for people to gain emotional support from others who care for a person with dementia. For more information, contact group facilitator Cyd Wadlow at (360) 779-9064.

Bike to Work Day

Bike to Work Day is Friday and Kitsap Transit will host several aid stations for those out riding their bicycles to commute to work. There will be one at Pacific and Farragut avenues and another at Farragut and Callow avenues in Bremerton. They will supply water, energy bars and other complimentary items. Spring Fest at Central Kitsap High School

Students at Central Kitsap High School will perform acts created and directed by their peers as well as portions from Shakespeare plays at Spring Fest at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The performances will be at the school’s Southworth Theater, 3700 NW Anderson Hill Road. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students with ASB card and $3 for children and seniors.

Bremerton Planning Committee meeting

The next Bremerton City Council Planning Committee meeting is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. June 14 in the council conference room, located on the sixth floor of the Norm Dicks Government Center, 345 Sixth St., Bremerton.

Council members assigned to serve on this Committee are Greg Wheeler, Dianne Robinson, Will Maupin and Nick Wofford. The Department of Community Development Director is Andrea Spencer, Assistant Director is JoAnn Vidinhar and staff support will be provided by Pam Bykonen.
