Central Kitsap grad Quint leads Lady Rangers. OC softball sweeps, baseball swept by Bellevue

Erika Quint did it all Saturday.

Erika Quint did it all Saturday.

Needing key wins against the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges’ North Division leader Bellevue in order to distance themselves against No. 3 Everett, the No. 2 Olympic College Lady Rangers turned to the 2007 CK grad. Quint did not disappoint.

Rather, she led the Lady Rangers (20-10, 19-7) to 2-1 and 2-0 wins Saturday, sweeping the NWAACC’s fifth-ranked team overall to put some space between themselves and Everett (20-16, 16-8).

Quint allowed just seven hits in 14 combined innings Saturday, striking out nine in the game two shutout.

Niki Winburn and Amy Renfrow drove in both runs in the first win, while Natalie Peapea and Megan Kreifels supplied the offense in game two.

OC hosted Shoreline yesterday, but results were unavailable at press time.

Baseball

It was a great run while it lasted.

Despite a huge turnaround from last year’s two-win season, the OC baseball team fell short Saturday and Sunday against Bellevue, losing 3-2 and 7-4 (in 10 innings) on Saturday and 10-3 and 8-2 Sunday, getting swept right out of the NWAACC playoff picture.

The losses dropped the Rangers to 16-25 overall and 7-13 in league play. OC is now in fifth place in the North Division.

Still, the team will finish the season with at least a 14-game improvement over last year.
