After 18 months of business, owners Dean Lewis and Paul Opheim closed Judy’s Junk and Java Coffee Shop in Silverdale Saturday.
Because the property on Munson Street is being sold, the two decided to focus on other jobs and will still continue to roast and sell, Personal Roast — their organic fair-trade coffee.
“It’s a hobby of a guy who went to too many garage and estate sales,” Lewis said of their shop that sold a variety of antiques and collectibles besides coffee.
Lewis, who currently works full time at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, said owning an antique store is something he would be interested in pursuing again when he retires.
For now, Personal Roast can be purchased at local stores including at Pip’s Bagels and Monica’s Waterfront Bakery and Cafe in Silverdale.
Lewis said they roast about 150 pounds of coffee a week and personal orders can be made by calling (360) 620-7352.
