When Keely Fein isn’t competing on the court, she’s filling out college applications to the University of Washington, Eastern Washington University and working. Jalen Carpenter loves playing video games, including “NCAA Football,” “Call of Duty: Black Ops” and “Sims 3,” and listening to music. Fein listens to Ke$ha and Lady Gaga, while Carpenter listens to Drake.

We caught up with Fein and Carpenter following practice Monday.

Here’s what they had to say about being a captain, and more:

Q: How long have you been a team captain?

A: Both one season.

Q: How do you like being a captain so far?

A: Fein: I love it because we get to show our leadership skills out on the court and run practices. Carpenter: People look up to you, but it’s hard because you’ve got to do everything right.

Q: What do you hope to teach your teammates?

A: Fein: I want to set an example and be a role model. Always be respectful and try to help them whenever I can. Carpenter: Be a good teammate.

Q: What are the challenges of being a captain?

A: Carpenter: I’m really competitive so I need to keep my composure sometimes. Sometimes you think about slacking off, but you remember that you’re captain and you need to be a leader.

Fein: Some of my challenges are always being on top of everything. We always have to be the ones to resolve problems and find resolutions. But that’s part of being captain. It’s outside my comfort zone, but I’ll get used to it.

Q: Favorite moment of the season?

A: Fein: When Jalen popped her knee out of her socket. It was a really sad moment, because it was terrible. But at the same time, it made me realize how much Jalen meant to me, and how much she’s my other half. I don’t know what I would do without her and her sister.

Carpenter: My favorite moment was the candy bar game.

Fein: We play the candy bar game with Sawyer Kluge (team’s freshman guard). She was laughing so hard when she couldn’t name the five candy bars when we knock on her head.

It’s hard because you’re getting banged in the head and you’re trying to think, but you can’t. It catches you off guard.
