Three local grads advance in the military

All three are graduates of Central Kitsap High School

Army Reserve Private First Class Samuel Bailey of Silverdale has graduated from Advanced Individual Training as an Army Combat Medic.

His training was at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas.  He also received the Distinguished with Iron Medic Award given to the soldier that achieves the highest score in a physical fitness test in his entire class. He is the son of Lisa Plum of Silverdale and Wesley and Pam Bailey of Bremerton.

Bailey now returns to Army ROTC at Washington State University where he is majoring in finance with a minor in economics. He graduated from Central Kitsap High School in 2012. He also is an Eagle Scout from Silverdale Lutheran Troop 1541.

 

Navy Seaman Casey M. Guzman, son of Castor V. Guzman of Silverdale, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

During the eight-week program, Guzman completed training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. Guzman is a 2013 graduate of Central Kitsap High School in Silverdale.

 

• Air Force Airman Aaron W. Byl graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas, completing an intensive, eight-week program in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Byl is the son of James E. Kelemen of Silverdale. He is a 2013 graduate of Central Kitsap High School in Silverdale.
