Residents will have the chance to weigh in on their opinions of incorporating Silverdale 7 p.m. Thursday, May 12 at the county’s Boundary Review Board meeting. A public meeting on incorporation has been included into the Board’s regular monthly meeting at the Silverdale Beach Hotel, 3073 Northwest Bucklin Hill Road.
“It’s like an open mic situation,” said Marcus Hoffman, spokesman for Citizens United for Silverdale.
The committee submitted its intent for incorporation — including proposed boundaries — to the county last month. The Board will decide whether or not to accept the proposed boundaries or change them. After the meeting, the next step in the incorporation process is for the committee to begin gathering signatures, said Carolyn Gourley, clerk for the Board. The committee has 180 days to gather signatures from at least 10 percent of the registered voters living within the boundaries after the Board has finalized the boundaries. They hope to get the measure on the ballot for voters in spring 2012.
