Bremerton community budget meeting:
Bremerton City Councilmembers Roy Runyon and Greg Wheeler will host a combined District 4 and 5 community meeting to discuss the 2011 city budget from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15. The meeting will take place in the first floor Meeting Chambers of the Norm Dicks Government Center located at 345 Sixth St., Bremerton.
Veterans job fair:
Kitsap County WorkSource is hosting a free job fair from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 18 at the Bremerton WorkSource, located at 1300 Sylvan Way. All employers recruiting at the event are hiring and the event is open to all members of the public as well as veterans. Employers scheduled to participate include: Delphinus Engineering, Farmers Insurance, Home Depot, Kitsap Credit Union, Kitsap Home Care, Peninsula Light Company, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Puget Sound Environmental, U.S. Department of Labor, Washington State Higher Education Board, Washington State Patrol and West Sound Workforce.
Job seekers should bring copies of their résumé and be prepared to interview.
Sausage-making for beginners:
The Washington State University Kitsap Extension will offer an artisanal meats workshop Nov. 15 for those who want to learn how to make sausage, canned meats and jerky.
The workshop will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Kitsap County Fairground President’s Hall Kitchen, located at 1200 NW Fairgrounds Road in Bremerton.

Juvenile justice brunch:
The League of Women Voters of Kitsap will host a public brunch at McCormick Woods Clubhouse Restaurant Nov. 17 with Ned Delmore, county juvenile services director, who will discuss trends in juvenile justice, with time for questions.

Coffee and social time starts at 9:30 a.m. followed by the brunch and program at 10 a.m.
Optional tours of the nearby juvenile center will follow the brunch.

Operation Christmas Child:
The Silverdale United Methodist Church is serving as a drop-off location for Operation Christmas Child shoe box gifts that will be distributed to children throughout the world.
The collection times are 4 to 7 p.m. Mondays, 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, noon to 2 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. The Silverdale United Methodist Church is located at 9982 Silverdale Way NW, Silverdale.
Operation Christmas Child uses tracking technology that allows donors to “follow your box” to the destination country where it will be hand-delivered to a child in need. To register shoe box gifts and find out what country they are delivered to, use the “EZ Give” donation form found at www.samaritanspurse.org.
Silverdale Friends of the Library Anniversary Book Sale:
The Silverdale Friends of the Library are hosting the 11th annual $3 book bag sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Silverdale Library, located at 3450 NW Carlton St. in Silverdale.
All generes of books are available. No limit on sales. All proceeds go to the library. Come early for best selection.
Olympic College legislative forum:
State legislators from Bremerton’s three districts, the 23rd, 26th, and 35th, will participate in a legislative forum at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 at Olympic College in Bremerton at the Bremer Student Center.
Lawmakers will make five-minute statements and take questions from the audience. The forum will conclude at 8:30 p.m.

Santa’s arrival:
The Kitsap Mall will host Santa Claus’ arrival from noon to 8 p.m. Nov. 12. Children of all ages can pose for pictures and visit with Santa. Visitors will receive a book and candy cane from Santa and the first 300 children will be given an special gift.
Learn to make dye from mushrooms:
Members of the Kitsap Peninsula and Puget Sound mycological societies will host an all-day workshop Saturday on how to use mushrooms to make dye.
The workshop, at the Bremerton Odd Fellow Temple, 100 Dora Avenue, will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and costs $30 for materials. The workshop is open to the public but space is limited. Mushrooms, mordants and yarn samples will be provided, and attendees will leave with mushroom dyed yarn samples from the workshop. Those attending need to have warm clothes for outdoor work.
