CKF&R management pay raises expected to be approved

In all, the raises amount to $47,713 annually and range from 5 to 10 percent above the current salaries for these positions.

Raises for seven of the top management officials in the Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue District are expected to be approved on Tuesday.

The board of commissioners for the district will meet at 4 p.m. at the administrative building, 5300 NW Newberry Hill Road, in Silverdale. The board usually meets on Mondays, but due to the Memorial Day holiday, the meeting will be Tuesday.

Management raises have been discussed by the board for the past month and Fire Chief Scott Weninger is asking that the board take action Tuesday and approve raises for the deputy chief, the division chief, the finance manager, the human resources manager, the maintenance manager, the internet technology manager and the volunteer/support manager.

In all, the raises amount to $47,713 annually and range from 5 to 10 percent above the current salaries for these positions.

Weninger has told the board that the district’s pay for these positions is not competitive with similar jobs in fire districts and in similar jobs throughout government employers in Kitsap County.

In other matters, the board will address the district’s weapons and firearms policy and it policy on allowing the public to use meeting rooms in fire district facilities. Those items are for study only and no action is expected.
