SENATE CANDIDATE FORUM: The Republican Women of Kitsap are sponsoring a Senate candidate forum from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Friday, June 4 at the Silverdale Community Center on Silverdale Way. The event is open to the public. Jack Hamilton will moderate the forum.
SATURDAY
NATIONAL TRAILS DAY: On Saturday, June 5, the Poulsbo Trails Committee will celebrate National Trails Day at the pavilion at Liberty Bay Waterfront Park. Join the Kitsap Volkssporters on their bimonthly walk. Choose between a 5 K (3.1 mile) route and a 10 K (6.2 mile) route. The 5K will go to American Legion Park, the boardwalk and Fjord Drive. The 10K walk will have a southern/eastern loop and then go through Fish Park, Nels Park and American Legion Park. The walk is free, but all walkers must register at the Kvelstad Pavilion in Liberty Bay Waterfront Park. Registration is at 9 a.m. The walk begins at 9:30 am. Maps and directions will be provided. SUMMER KIDS FAIR: Poulsbo Parks & Recreation is hosting a free Summer Kids Fair from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, June 5 at the Zone Sportsplex in Poulsbo. AD/HD SUPPORT: “The Potential Risks of Not Treating AD/HD” will be presented by Harlan Gephart, MD, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, to Kitsap CHADD, the local Attention Deficit Disorder support group. MID-SOMMER FESTIVAL: The Poulsbo Sons of Norway and Historic Downtown Poulsbo Association present the St. Hans/Mid-sommer Festival from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at Poulsbo’s Waterfront Park. Musicians will come by boat and process the maistång (mid-sommer pole); after the rising of the maistång there will be games and dancing. ALZHEIMER’S CAREGIVERS’ SUPPORT GROUP: Alzheimer’s Association caregiver support groups provide a consistent and caring place for people to learn, share and gain emotional support from others who are also on a unique journey of providing care to a person with dementia. SEEKING DOCENTS: The Naval Undersea Museum in Keyport is currently recruiting for the Youth Docent Volunteer Program. The program offers young people work experience in a museum. Volunteers work five hours a day three days a week during the busy summer months as well as a few hours monthly during the winter months. Work begins as soon as school is out in the spring. Teens must be between the ages of 13-17 to participate. Youth Docents serve as educational aides and curatorial assistants. They will research, design and build an exhibit.
