Brawl in

the street

A sheriff’s deputy responded to multiple calls regarding people fighting in the street in the 1900 block of NE Virginia Street in East Bremerton at 12:20 a.m. Nov. 8.

Two brothers told the deputy they were assaulted by a 28-year-old Bremerton man who is the ex-boyfriend of their cousin. The brothers, along with a friend and the female cousin, were at Winterland Bar in East Bremerton when they were approached by the 28-year-old man, his current girlfriend and others. An altercation occurred and the brothers and their group left the bar and went home to the Virginia Street address. A brother said they were followed and when they arrived home, the suspect, his girlfriend and others jumped out, assaulted him, his brother and their cousin, then drove off. Deputies went to the suspect’s East Bremerton residence and took him into custody. The suspect said he didn’t go to the Virginia Street address. On the way to jail, he told the deputy he plans to sue the police because he didn’t do anything wrong. The man was arrested and booked into jail on two counts of fourth-degree assault. He was later released.
