Mixed results on football field; Oly, KSS lose big, CK rolls

North Mason’s rushing attack was too much for Klahowya (2-2) in a 35-12 Bulldog victory Sept. 26. NM took control early, building a 14-0 lead after one quarter, and never looked back. Bulldog Lonnie Hoover rushed for 103 yards on 20 carries, scoring on 1- and 10-yard touchdown runs. Daniel Baker nearly eclipsed the 100-yard mark as well for NM, with 96 yards on only 10 carries. Andre Moore accounted for both Eagle touchdowns — a 22-yard second-quarter touchdown reception from Darrell Newman and a 47-yard run in the third, cutting the lead to 20-14. Moore finished with 147 yards rushing, carrying the ball 21 times. KSS traveled to Sequim last night, but results from that game were unavailable at press time.

Olympic’s struggles continued Sept. 26 in a lopsided 56-14 loss to Capital. The Trojans line couldn’t create running lanes for back Larry Dixon, who struggled to find a rhythm. Oly (0-4) looked to win its first game last night, hosting Timberline, but results were unavailable at press time.

Central Kitsap cruised to a 38-7 win at Lincoln Sept. 26, improving to 2-2. The 38 points was the Cougars’ highest point total on the year. Quarterback Jason Simonis threw for two touchdowns and Howie McDonald posted solid rushing numbers. CK traveled to Bellarmine last night, but results were unavailable at press time.

Central Kitsap (5-7, 2-1) beat South Kitsap Thursday night, sweeping the match 3-0 (25-11, 25-21, 25-22). Racheal Diehl led the way with 10 kills and 10 digs, while Natalie Pfaff contributed 10 digs as well.

Port Angeles handled Klahowya Thursday, rolling past the Eagles 3-0 (25-5, 25-7, 25-9). KSS has yet to win a game but has another oportunity Tuesday, hosting Olympic.

Olympic, meanwhile, dropped a rare match against North Mason on Thursday, losing 3-1.
