Election time
Horton doesn’t have what it takes
As someone who has called Bremerton home for more than 50 years, I question the assertion that Lynn Horton has the proven leadership skills to be an effective port commissioner.
Several lawsuits were filed against her and the city of Bremerton. There was the fiasco with the odors from the sewer plant, which resulted in a large, expensive lawsuit, as the city initially tried to deny there was a problem. Later, people were forced from their homes amid claims of less than fair compensation. There were other lawsuits, allegations of political discrimination and favoritism, and questions regarding hiring and firing practices.
Additionally, the in fighting between then-Mayor Horton and the city council seemed to be a never-ending issue. As the people of Bremerton worried about drug dealers and trash-filled yards in their neighborhoods, the council and the mayor were spending the people’s time and money in mediation because they were unable to form a working relationship.
The Port of Bremerton needs a commissioner who can work well with others. I don’t believe Horton has that ability. Therefore, I strongly urge voters to support Roger Zabinski.
