An artful way to spend the weekend

Bainbridge Island Studio Tour hosts its eighth

Bainbridge Island Studio Tour hosts its eighth

annual summer edition Aug. 8-10.

In addition to Kitsap’s koi fish and water gardens, here’s another formidable local tour you could find your way to getting lost on — the eighth annual Bainbridge Island Summer Studio Tour.

Each year the artistry of Bainbridge invites the public into their studios and workspaces, to interact with the artists, see more of what they do.

The Bainbridge Island Studio tour has been a premier Puget Sound arts and crafts show since 1984. The summer edition of the tour spawned from the widely popular Winter Studio Tour, which turns 25 in December. This summer’s tour, Aug. 8-10, is slated to be the island’s biggest summertime tour yet, organizer Dinah Satterwhite said.

There are seven studios strewn across the island, featuring more than 50 artists and an expansive plethora of local art from garden art to jewelry, painting to mixed media, abstract landscapes to whimsical art dolls, fine art photography, tailored coats and jackets and everything in between. It’s quintessentially Bainbridge.

And to round out the atmosphere local musicians including the a cappella group SoundWave, esteemed guitarists Cesar Medel and Jim Bybee and more along with cool lemonade at select stops on the tour.

Studios will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 8-10. The tour is free. Brochures and maps will be available at the Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce in downtown Winslow.
