Q: What music are you listening to right now?

A: I’ll listen to just about anything, except scream metal. I love pop and hip-hop. My favorite bands are Civil Wars, Taylor Swift and Aerosmith.

Q: Favorite soft drink?

A: I love berry smoothies.

Q: Favorite pro athlete?

A: I loved Edgar Martinez growing up, even though he doesn’t play anymore. For current athletes, I really like Shaun White and his extreme sports.

Q: Favorite movie?

A: I loved “Water for Elephants.” I really enjoy Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson. It was just a great movie all around.

Q: Favorite TV show?

A: I love “Modern Family” and “The Middle.” I just think they’re really funny and entertaining to watch.

Q: Macintosh or PC?

A: I think Macs are better for sure. They’re pretty cool to use. I don’t have one, but my friends do. The features and programs are really fun to use.

Q: Favorite part about track?

A: I love reaching for a goal and working hard toward achieving what I set out to do. It feels good to reach those goals. I love supporting others out there and encouraging teammates to do their best.

Q: What do you enjoy about being a captain?

A: I love it when people come up to me and ask me questions about something, or if they need help. I like being there for support, and leading practices is fun, too.

Q: What do you hope to teach your teammates?

A: I want to teach them that even if you come up last or don’t finish as high as you want to, you should still try your best and go for your goals.

Q: What are the challenges of being a captain?

A: Everyone thinks you should be the best out there each time, but that’s not always the case. It can be tough as captain if you’re judged by how well you do on the track.

Q: What are the goals for the remainder of the year?

A: Our team goal is to win state this month. Personally, I want to keep running and work hard for next year.

Q: What are your plans after high school?

A: I’m planning on attending Olympic College next fall. I’m going to run for the cross-country team, but I’m not sure about track. I’m glad they brought those programs back to the school. I want to get my Associate’s at Olympic, and then work with dental hygiene.
