I-594 attacks law-abiding citizens only.
Fact: In the U.S., we already have hundreds of gun laws keeping criminals from obtaining firearms illegally.
Fact: Large businesses and small legally selling firearms to only law-abiding citizens do not support I-594. Even though they stand to profit more if I-594 passes. The reasoning is simple: I-594 targets only law-abiding citizens. It will not stop the criminal element from obtaining weapons the way they always do — illegally.
Some law enforcement (personnel) do support I-594.
The overall solid majority do not for the same reasons as previously mentioned. Even supporters of I-594, the honest ones anyway, agree it will not curtail the criminal element from obtaining their weapons illegally as they always do.
How about a law that addresses the real issue? A law with absolutely no ambiguity. A law promoting only the harshest of penalties. Swift and absolute punishment for any misdeeds involving firearms.
Fact: All cities and states with the most restrictive gun laws also have the most violent crime. Examples are Washington D.C., Chicago, Detroit, New York and New York City.
I-594 will be spit on and laughed at by the criminal element. Another feel-good law will not and has not curtailed the bad guy. Mis-guided TV ads only tell you what you want to hear and much of it is very misinformed.
