The following cases were filed in Kitsap County District Court:
• A 41-year-old Silverdale man was charged with assault in the second degree following an altercation on June 4 in the 3800 block of Randall Way, Silverdale. According to court documents, the man was arrested after he pushed a woman to the ground and broke her wrist. The incident happened after the woman was driving by and saw two men fighting at that location. She stopped and yelled for them to “stop it,” and one of the men turned his anger toward her, kicking and damaging her vehicle. She got out to look at the damage to her car and the man grabbed her and threw her to the ground. He was arrested and booked in the Kitsap County jail with bail set at $50,000.
• A 42-year-old Port Orchard man was charged with burglary in the second degree after he was identified on videotape as having broken into two storage units on Levin Road in Silverdale in February. On June 4, an anonymous citizen identified him to the sheriff’s office through social media release of the surveillance video. When shown the video, the man said he has a methamphetamine addiction and has to steal to support his habit. He said he did not remember the specific incident. He was booked in jail on a $10,000 bail.
• A 28-year-old Bremerton man was arrested June 4 for possession of a controlled substance after a Poulsbo Police officer saw him slumped over the steering wheel of his car, parked at Kitsap Credit Union, 19045 Highway 305. After seeing foil on the floor of the car, the officer asked him if there were drugs in the car, and the suspect said no. The suspect then gave consent for the officer to search his vehicle. After finding heroine, meth and drug paraphernalia, the suspect was booked in jail and bail was set at $10,000.
• A 30-year-old Port Orchard man was arrested for theft in the third degree, shoplifting, after he left the Fred Meyer at 5050 Highway 303 without paying for the following items: a can of oil, a coffee pot and several bags of Deli meat totaling $228. A loss prevention officer witnessed the theft and called law enforcement. He signed a civil demand to appear in court and was given a criminal trespass notice, agreeing he would not enter the store again.
• Third degree theft charges were filed against a 20-year-old Bremerton man for shoplifting from Walmart, 6797 Highway 303 on Jan. 14, 2015. According to a police report filed by asset protection associates at Walmart, they saw him take multiple movies from the electronics department, put them in his cart and later move them to his backpack. He then went into the men’s restroom and took the wrappers off all the movies and flushed the wrappers down the toilet. The suspect then exited the store without paying for any merchandise, when he was confronted by the asset protection associates. At the time, there was already a “no trespassing notice” on him due to a previous theft from the store.
• A 48-year-old Bremerton man was arrested and charged with assault of a child in the fourth degree following an incident in the 3700 block of NE Charise Court on or near June 5. Law enforcement was dispatched there following a call to 911 from a neighbor who reported that one of the children at the house next door called her and told her to call 911. She indicated that the child was whispering. After arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers interviewed the suspect and the two juvenile females and learned that the man had recently “put his hands around one of the girls’ neck and choked her.” The girl said it happened because she “had not gotten all the laundry done.” One girl said he screams and yells and has thrown objects at them. The suspect was booked into the Kitsap County jail. A CPS investigation resulted in the prosecutor’s office filing charges.
• A 34-year-old Bremerton man was arrested and charged with violation of a no contact order when on Jan. 5 he went to a house in the 3700 block of McCall Boulevard W. in Bremerton where the victim of the order resides. He began harassing the victim and began telling the victim, and a daughter of theirs, to tell the judge “they were lying (in a previous domestic violence case) and that the victim had hurt herself.” He was taken into custody for violation of a no contact order, tampering with a witness, domestic violence assault from the previous incident, harassment and resisting arrest. The suspect fled to the basement when police arrived and refused to come out until he was threatened with use of a taser.
• A 31-year-old male was charged with burglary in the second degree after he allegedly went into Walmart at 3497 Bethel Road in Port Orchard and left the store with items he did not purchase. A court document stated that he selected items from the shelves and then fraudulently returned them for cash and a gift card. He later returned to the store and used the gift card, and also left with a car battery he did not pay for. He was arrested and bail was set at $20,000. He was banned from the store.
