Body found in ditch near Clear Creek Road is identified

Coroner's office releases the name of the Silverdale woman found yesterday

The Kitsap County Coroner’s office has identified the woman found dead in a drainage ditch as Pamela Lorraine McNeil, 57. Her last known address was in Silverdale.

Her body was discovered Thursday morning by a county public works employee who was conducting maintenance in the area.

Her body was found on the west side of NW Clear Creek Road, approximately one-quarter mile north of NW Mountain View Road in Central Kitsap, according to a press release from KCSO.

Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene at 7:24 Thursday after being called by the maintenance worker and found a woman lying face-down in a drainage ditch north of Silverdale.

The location of the body was in the 14400 block of Clear Creek Road NW, north of Silverdale.

An autopsy was conducted Thursday by the county’s forensic pathologist. Toxicology tests are pending, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office, and will take several weeks before results will be made public.

The cause and manner of death will then be determined by the Kitsap County Coroner.

Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene on Thursday. Navy authorities with Naval Base Kitsap and the Central Kitsap School District administration were alerted to the situation.

David Biel, spokesman for the Central Kitsap School District, said the district did not take any precautionary measures because of the location of the body, near Clear Creek Elementary.

“The only action we took was to re-route (school) buses because the road was closed this morning,” Biel said on Thursday.

Clear Creek Road was closed from the time the body was discovered until about 11:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

Law enforcement officials said Friday that there appeared to be no signs of foul play.
