POULSBO — This weekend Poulsbo welcomes 128 premiere and recreation soccer teams from throughout the Northwest for the 24th annual Viking Cup.
Play started Friday night and runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Sunday with semifinals and finals being played on Monday from 8 a.m to 3 p.m.
All the action can be seen at six venues: Kingston and Poulsbo middle schools, Kingston and North Kitsap high schools, Wolfle Elementary and Strawberry Field.
Both boys and girls teams ages 11 and under to 19 and under will be showing off skills and fancy foot work.
North Kitsap Soccer Club President Aaron Vernik said participating team numbers are on the upswing and residents and visitors alike should come out and enjoy some nice weather and all-star soccer action.
“It’s an opportunity to see some really good soccer being played right in the back yard,” he said. “There’s going to be a lot of different skill levels.”
NKSC hosts the event. For complete schedules, brackets, updates and results visit www.vikingcup.org.
