Kitsap County Sheriff Office Sergeant charged with DUI

POULSBO – A Kitsap County Sheriff Office sergeant was charged with driving under the influence in Poulsbo’s Municipal Court Tuesday following his arrest by a Poulsbo police officer on April 24, according to court documents.

The sergeant, Jon Brossel, was off duty at the time of his arrest and has been placed on administrative assignment following the incident, according to a Sheriff’s Office statement.

According to the Poulsbo police report, the officer stopped Brossel on Finn Hill Road after seeing his Honda Civic traveling about 45 mph in a 25 mph zone on Front Street at 12:35 a.m. The officer arrested Brossel on suspicion of driving under the influence at 1:25 a.m. and took him to Poulsbo Police Department for booking. According to the report, two breath tests showed Brossel’s blood alcohol level at about .130. The legal limit is .08. He was released following booking.

Brossel notified the agency’s chain of command following the incident, according to the Sheriff’s Office statement. He has been with the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office for 25 years.

“While regretful, when law enforcement officers make mistakes the appropriate action is taken,” Sheriff Steve Boyer said in his statement.
