Today, Central Kitsap School District students are bringing home a survey form used to determine Federal Impact Aid funding.
It is important all appropriate sections on the form be filled out completely and accurately and the form is signed and dated. Parents of CKSD students should watch for their child’s purple-colored form and return it by Thursday, Nov. 5.
Every year, Central Kitsap School District must apply for Federal Impact Aid funds from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds compensate CKSD for the loss of local tax dollars from tax-exempt federal property in the Silverdale and Bremerton areas. The district must conduct a Federal Residence and Employment Count on a yearly basis to obtain a current count of families in the district who live and/or work on federal property.
These funds benefit all students and are used for basic education programs districtwide (except for the special education portion, which is used directly for that program).
