National Preparedness Month

September is National Preparedness Month and Kitsap County residents should review their preparedness plans, update their contact list and building as well as restock their emergency kits, according to the Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management.

One special event, which involves local amateur radio operators, is the NOAA Weather Radio promotion. Tomorrow from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., all three Wal-Mart stores in the county will host the National Weather Services’ weather radio promotion.

Wal-Mart stores are located in Bremerton, Poulsbo and Port Orchard.

Volunteers from the county Alternate Communi-cation System will be positioned at each store to program people’s radios and talk about emergency preparedness.
