MOAA to host annual picnic
The Kitsap chapter of the Military Officer’s Association of America will have its annual picnic from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10 at the Elks Lodge, 4131 Pine Road NE, Bremerton.
All members and family are invited to attend. The cost is $14 per person to cover meal expenses.
Drink a lemonade with your legislators
Bremerton City Councilmember Greg Wheeler will host “Lemonade with your Legislators,” a meet and greet with area elected officials from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7 at Evergreen Park at shelters five and six.
Speeches by elected officials will begin at 2 p.m. Free lemonade and cookies will be provided and there will also be youth activities with prizes by age group.
AARP drivers course offered
Country Meadows will host a Silverdale over 50 refresher course of the AARP Driver Safety Program from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. Aug. 16 and 17 in their community center.
The cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. Contact (360) 692-4480 to register.
YWCA sets charity putt-putt tourney
The 10th Annual YWCA Charity Putt-Putt Tournament is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 16. at Northwest Golf Range, 368 NE Waaga Way in Bremerton.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with registration beginning at 10:45 a.m.

Methadone clinic discussion
Kitsap County Health District will hold a public meeting on the methadone clinic recently approved by the City of Bremerton on Monday, Aug. 15, at 3:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Norm Dicks Government Center, 345 Sixth Street.
Following, at 6:30 p.m. there will be a city-wide opiate replacement facility information meeting.
Civil war comes to life
As part of the 150 year commemoration of the U.S. Civil War, members of the Historic Fort Steilacoom Association will present a living history display and reenactment of how soldiers on both sides of our nation’s bloodiest conflict lived while on a campaign march.
The event runs noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Outdoor Amphitheatre located at the Sylvan Way Branch of the Kitsap Regional Library, 1301 Sylvan Way, East Bremerton.
