PORT ORCHARD – 68,000 change-of-value notices will be arriving in the mailboxes of residential property owners after June 18.
Sales trends have been analyzed through March 31, 2015, to make the state-required adjustments to property values for tax year 2016. With real estate values improving over the previous year, change of value notices are being mailed to approximately 68,000 residential property owners informing them of their new value.
Property owners can also check their property values on the “Parcel Search” feature of the assessor’s website at www.kitsapgov.com/assr. Sales trends for the county are also available in the “sales” tab on the left side of the site.
Bainbridge Island and North Kitsap will see the largest changes in value for 2016, while Central and South Kitsap have seen minor changes.
Commercial Change of Value Notices will be mailed to property owners later this summer.
Property owners with questions or concerns about their new taxable value for 2016 may contact the Assessor’s Office at 360-337-7160 or email assessor@co.kitsap.wa.us to review property characteristics and have any questions answered. Property owners will have until Aug. 21, 2016 to appeal their value with the County Board of Equalization. Information about property tax relief programs is also available.
