EASTER EGG HUNT: The Eagles and the Elks will be hosting their annual Easter Egg Hunt at 1:30 p.m. Ages toddler thru 10 are welcome and candy prizes will be available. The Eagles pay half the cost of this event and have a number of volunteers run it. The event will be at the Elks Lodge on Pine Road in Bremerton.

COLLEGE INFO: Olympic College Bremerton will host the 2008 Spring Tour for area high school students from 9 a.m. to noon. College and university representatives from seventeen Washington state colleges and universities will be attending. Students may attend four college presentations in designated Olympic College classrooms during this time frame. The opening session begins at the Bremer Student Center and is free to everyone who attends.

SEA GRANT: Jeff Adams is the Washington Sea Grant Marine Water Quality field agent for Kitsap County. He will talk about Washington Sea Grant’s activities and share a few items about shorelines and the plants, algae and animals that live there — those that should be there (natives) and those that shouldn’t (invasives). Adams will speak from noon to 12:30 p.m. in the Norm Dicks office conference room on the fifth floor of the Norm Dicks Center. Questions and discussion will follow.

PROA: The Puget Rental Owner’s Association will hold its Monthly Dinner Meeting Seminar at AA China Buffet, located at 3583 Wheaton Way, Bremerton. MOAA LUNCHEON: The Kitsap Chapter of the Military Officer’s Association of America will hold its monthly meeting at the Elks Lodge, located at 4131 Pine Road, Bremerton. A social hour will begin at 11 a.m. followed by lunch at noon. Guest speakers will be Lindy Dosher, Museum Curator, and Cynthia Richards, operations and marketing Coordinator, for both the Puget Sound Navy Museum and the Naval Undersea Museum. They will discuss new exhibits and marketing plans for the Bremerton Navy Museum.

PUBLIC MEETING: This meeting is to get community feedback on the Ferry Finance study and current operational issues. David Moseley, the new head of Ferries is planning to be there. KCAA: Don Stuart, Pacific Northwest States Director, American Farmland Trust, will speak on the topic of “Saving the Land that Sustains us.” Stuart’s discussion is scheduled for 7 p.m. April 1 at the Norms Dicks Government Center Auditorium, located at 345 6th St., Bremerton. TAX COUNSELING: The IRS and AARP jointly sponsor a program staffed by volunteers to electronically prepare and file income tax returns at no cost to the taxpayers. Although intended for elderly and low-income families, no taxpayer will be turned away. Note however, taxpayer’s returns requiring the reporting of significant business income or any loss, or any rental income are beyond the scope of this program. Tax-Aide volunteers are prepared to handle all 2007 tax law changes.

Taxpayers must bring a photo identification, documents verifying the Social Security numbers of all persons on the tax return and all 2007 tax documents, such as statements of income from wages, retirement, social security, interest and or dividends. It is advisable to bring a checkbook to provide account numbers for electronic funds transfer and a copy of the 2006 return for comparison purposes. If in doubt about the paperwork, bring it all and let us sort it out.

Please plan to arrive early. We try not to begin preparation of a new return during the last half hour before closing time.
