A 43-year-old Poulsbo man was arrested Tuesday, Nov. 6, for first-degree knowingly trafficking in stolen property and for an outstanding warrant. Michael A. Vargo admitted to burglarizing homes and selling the stolen property.
A homeowner on Nels Nelson Road reported a burglary Nov. 6 and said sometime during the previous night his garage was broken into and the rear door was pried open. A red air compressor and a John Deere riding mower were missing from the garage. The air compressor was valued at $250 and the riding mower was estimated at $1,000.
Detectives received a tip which led them to the location of the mower and Vargo as the alleged burglar. They later obtained a search warrant for Vargo’s home.
Deputies searched his home on Finley Road in Poulsbo Nov. 6. Vargo admitted to stealing things from the home on Nels Nelson Road, but denied breaking the garage door. He also admitted to selling the mower, completing four other burglaries and selling stolen property from about 20 burglaries.
Vargo said 41-year-old Scott A. Feltus, of Chico, took part in several burglaries. Vargo said he helped Feltus steal tools from a construction site on Marks Road in Seabeck in October and another site on Dosewallips Road in Seabeck in September. Vargo said Feltus unlocked boxes and took various tools.
A deputy searched Feltus’ Chico Way home Nov. 7 and found numerous tools from various burglary victims. Feltus said he had been in contact with Vargo, but took no part in any burglaries.
Vargo was arrested and booked into jail for first-degree knowingly trafficking in stolen property and for an outstanding warrant. His bail is set at $250,000 and he is scheduled to appear in Kitsap County Superior Court Dec. 5.
