Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic violence call at about 5:45 p.m. July 3 in the 10200 block of Ogle Road NE in Poulsbo. A man was reportedly hitting his girlfriend and she’d locked herself in the bathroom to get away from him.

Upon arrival, the 45-year-old woman told deputies her 41-year-old boyfriend told her he wanted to break up and, out of anger, she cut herself on her neck and wrist with a switchblade knife. She said they fought, but would not give deputies more details.

A deputy searched the home and found one bedroom door locked.

The property owner said she saw the couple fighting in the yard and saw the woman punch her boyfriend in the face. She said the man was probably inside the locked bedroom.

A deputy knocked on the spare bedroom door several times and told the man to come out. He eventually came out of the room and the deputy saw power cords leading into a closed closet. The bedroom was hot and smelled like marijuana, according to a police report.

The man said he told his girlfriend he wanted to break up and she “freaked out.” She punched him in the face, breaking his nose and giving him two black eyes.

The woman said her boyfriend was growing marijuana plants in the spare bedroom closet. She also said there was more marijuana in her bedroom.

Deputies searched the home and found 15 medium-sized marijuana plants and 15 starter plants as well as growing equipment.

The man was arrested and booked into jail for violation of the Uniform Controlled Substance Act: manufacturing marijuana, outstanding warrants and a felony probation violation out of Oregon. His bail is set at $30,500.

The woman was arrested and booked into jail for second-degree assault and violation of the Uniform Controlled Substance Act: manufacturing marijuana. She was later released.

A convenient

target

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a burglary in progress at the Ridgetop Market convenience store and gas station on NW Tahoe Lane in Silverdale shortly before 12 a.m. July 2. Deputies apprehended the suspect as he ran from the business.

A woman said she heard glass breaking at Ridgetop Market and walked over to check it out. She saw the 27-year-old Silverdale man pulling broken glass from a window, then watched him hit the front door with a large rock, breaking the door.

The business owner estimated the damage at $1,600.

The man was arrested and booked into jail for two outstanding warrants and second-degree burglary. He was later released.

A $6 grab

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a robbery on NE McWilliams Road and Gentile Lane NE in East Bremerton. The victim said two men robbed him and said they had a gun.

The 21-year-old male victim said he was walking his bicycle up a hill eastbound on McWilliams Road near Gentile Lane when he saw two men walking toward him. They asked him if he had any money, he told them no. One of the men said, “I have a gun and I’ll shoot you.” The victim then pulled his cell phone, wallet and $6 cash from his pockets.

The men took the $6 and told the victim to turn off his cell phone and not call police. They then walked to a white car and drove away. The victim called 911 from his cell phone.

Deputies eventually tracked down the 18-year-old Central Kitsap man and 17-year-old East Bremerton boy to an apartment complex on McWilliams Road.

When questioned at jail, the 18-year-old began crying and said, “There was no gun.”

The 18-year-old was arrested and booked into jail for second-degree robbery. His bail is set at $35,000.

The 17-year-old was arrested and booked into juvenile detention for second-degree robbery.

Sheriff’s deputies helped Port Orchard Police catch a vehicle theft suspect around 12:30 a.m. June 24 on Pottery Avenue at Lippert Drive in Port Orchard.

A 24-year-old Central Kitsap man reportedly attempted to steal a vehicle at an apartment complex on Sidney Avenue and the victim held the man at gunpoint. The man eventually got inside a vehicle and took off, fleeing from police.

A deputy parked along Pottery Avenue heard a loud crash and scrapping noise. Police officers on the radio said the car blew a tire. The car sped past the deputy, then coasted into a driveway. The man jumped out and ran on foot.

The deputy chased the man and located him lying on his back below a 7-foot-tall rock wall.

The man was arrested and booked into jail for attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle, third-degree assault and an outstanding warrant. His bail is set at $50,000.
